JUNIPER DEVICES CLI — CHANGE ROOT PASSWORD

 

You can change root password on juniper devices like this:

1.OPTION:

*Connect to switch by putty

*4start switch

*press control+c

*choose recovery mode  from boot menu

*root> configure
Entering configuration mode

root# set system root-authentication plain-text-password
New password:
Retype new password:

{linecard:0}[edit]

 

root# commit
2000-01-09 07:21:16 UTC: Running FIPS Self-tests
veriexec: no fingerprint for file=’/sbin/kats/cannot-exec’ fsid=171 fileid=51404 gen=1 uid=0 pid=4875
2000-01-09 07:21:22 UTC: FIPS Self-tests Passed

2.OPTION :

Login with telnet or putty    and after :

 

root#cli 

root@> 

for login to configuration mode 

cli> configure 

[edit] 

root@# 

Now we can change root login password:

root@# set system root-authentication plain-text-password 

New password: password 

Retype new password: password 

and we have to save configuration 

 

root@#commit
